An excerpt from the documentary, Truth Day, which I directed and edit-produced for Liverpool Football Club, which tells the story of a momentous day in the campaign for Hillsborough justice.
On 12 September 2012, the Hillsborough Independent Panel published its long-awaited report. Its landmark findings exposed extensive failings by the authorities on the day of the disaster and in its aftermath, prompting then Prime Minister David Cameron to issue a “profound apology” for what he described as the “double injustice” suffered by those affected. After decades of struggle, the findings vindicated the Hillsborough families and marked a huge step forward in their pursuit of justice for the 96.
Andrew Devine, who suffered life-changing injuries at Hillsborough, died in July 2021. A coroner subsequently ruled that his death was a direct result of those injuries, making him the 97th victim of the disaster.
